University Program

Launched in 2021, our University Program provides grants to individual students for admission preparation courses, admissions exams, and tuition and registration for students pursuing higher education. The program also provides mentorship to rural students across Madagascar to help them navigate the admission process and life after enrollment.

University Program Policy Overview

1. Program Scope and Eligibility

The University Program supports students pursuing academic or professional studies through public universities, private institutions, or accredited distance learning programs.
The University Program will not fund students to enroll in military schools.
The University Program supports students for a term of one year.
Students may change majors once if they do not pass their first-year major’s final exams.

2. Funding and Allocation

The Board will annually set a uniform funding cap per student, inclusive of tuition costs, based on available resources.
Each academic year, an enrolled student may submit one or more requests to Anjiro Initiative for funding, up to but not exceeding the annual cap, to cover educational-related expenses incurred. Eligible expenses may include, but are not limited to, costs associated with rent, technology, books, and supplies. Anjiro Initiative reserves the right to exercise full discretion in granting requests in whole or in part, or denying any submitted requests. Each request will be considered independently and separately, and Anjiro Initiative's decision regarding any submitted request is final and non-precedential.

3. Policy Review

This policy is subject to periodic review and updates to ensure alignment with the Program's evolving goals and objectives. Changes will be approved by the Board and implemented accordingly.

In early July, 2023 Anjiro Initiative staff met with the school principals we partner with across Anjiro. During these meetings, our Madagascar Country Team explored how we can work alongside school educators and administrators to enhance our program and further support students.
