MAHABO-MANANIVO

In Mahabo Mananivo, a remote southeastern community in Madagascar, families face significant barriers to education, with many unable to afford basic school supplies like pens, notebooks, and exam fees. Students often travel long distances over challenging terrain to attend school, making access to education a persistent struggle.

Since 2023, Anjiro Initiative has partnered with the Mahabo Mananivo community to deliver a  scholarship program. Annual sign-up events engage families from all backgrounds, ensuring equitable distribution of financial support. Staff from MBG Mahabo, the regional hub of the Missouri Botanical Garden’s Madagascar Program, oversee these events and the recipient selection process, leveraging their local expertise to ensure fairness. Local school staff actively collaborate to expand the program’s reach, championing its mission to provide educational opportunities.
