aNDRAINJATO
Nestled in the Betsileo highlands of Madagascar, the rural community of Andrainjato is known for its terraced rice fields, strong kinship networks, and deep cultural traditions. Home to the Betsileo people—one of Madagascar’s largest highland ethnic groups—Andrainjato reflects both the challenges and the promise of rural development. Despite its agricultural resilience, the community faces persistent barriers to educational access, particularly for girls and children from low-income families.
Since 2024, Anjiro Initiative has partnered with EPP Mahatsinjony, a local primary school, to provide support for student tuition and fees. This collaboration reflects our commitment to advancing inclusive, quality education and fostering opportunities for children in remote regions.
This initiative aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals—including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 5 (Gender Equality), and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities)—and is grounded in culturally responsive, community-led solutions. By investing in local leadership and prioritizing sustainability, we aim to build lasting impact in remote highland regions.
